NATURAL AND PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE GIVES NEW LIFE TO

OLD FARM IN THE BARABOO BLUFFS

A life-long dream realized for John Thuesen and Laurel Redmon, their organic, 40-acre herb, fruit and vegetable farm provides an inspiring and peaceful backdrop for their new clinic and herb shop.  After three long years of renovation, the two-story wooden granary has a new lease on life.  Local craftsman and artisan Charlie Tom helped them fashion beams and sliding doors from 3 black cherry trees harvested from the farm’s woods using old world joinery techniques.  “I believe that the integrity of the craftsmanship will enhance the healing process,” says John Thuesen, Shiatsu practitioner and builder.

Red Sage Health - Baraboo offers acupuncture, shiatsu massage and herbal medicine.  An herb shop with handmade medicines and chemical-free body care products is also tucked inside.  As well, a classroom is available for studies in Herbalism, Chinese Medicine, Healthy Cooking, Aromatherapy, Foraging and more.  A guiding principle is that medicine should delight the senses.

The farm clinic is the newest branch of Red Sage Health, which also operates a Chinese Medicine Clinic and Herb Shop in downtown Madison.  The Williamson Street establishment has provided comprehensive health care and education for nearly five years.  Acupuncture, shiatsu massage, Chinese and Western herbs, aromatherapy and dietary advice are employed to help people heal from both chronic and acute conditions.

One of Laurel Redmon’s goals as an acupuncturist and herbalist is to provide affordable health care for the whole family.  This includes promoting healthy habits in young people that can have positive implications in the future.  She says, “education is a powerful tool in maintaining health and autonomy these days.”

Everyone is welcome to contact Red Sage Health – Baraboo to schedule an appointment or for a tour and a cup of tea.  Laurel encourages, “we all have the power to heal, and to take care of our families and loved ones.”
